About Us > Rhodia Acetow
Rhodia Acetow is the third largest producer of cellulose acetate tow for cigarette filters and one of the top merchant suppliers for cellulose acetate flakes in the world.
The source material for RhodiaŽ Filter Tow is provided by nature: Wood contains cellulose which can be turned into wood pulp to form the basis of a variety of products. Our quality control and assurance systems consistently monitor the RhodiaŽ Filter Tow manufacturing process round the clock to guarantee the excellent quality of the product. The constantly increasing demand for RhodiaŽ Filter Tow shows that our customers appreciate this globaly recognised quality standard.
About Us > History
Rhodia is one of the founders of the acetate industry.
In 1912, we began the production of cellulose acetate flakes in France, at that time used in paintings and coatings. A decade later yarn production began in France and later also in Germany and Brazil.
In the mid 50's, only a few years after its invention in the USA, Rhodia began to manufacture Filter Tow for the cigarette industry and has ever since continiously developed this technology further.
... the best is yet to come.
